Legacy Locker Unveils The Digital Will
We live in a digital world, so we shouldn’t be surprised that Legacy Locker has launched a service that transfers digital assets to loved ones after one’s death. It may seem like a strange thing to do, but this is a serious unmet need, the company seems to think.

“It’s not fun to think about it, but the reality is most Web-based companies have no provision for managing your account in the event of your passing,” said Jeremy Toeman, founder of the company. “Further, when we think of the assets we create online these days like Flickr, my multiple email addresses, and my PayPal account, they have real, significant value to me and to my family.”

This is probably not one of the things we think about when we set up a new online account, but Legacy Locker seems to believe we should. The Legacy Locker will be easily accessible from anywhere, and all users need to do is enter their online information in the locker, and assign a beneficiary for the storage account.

If the inevitable happens, the assets will be electronically transmitted to the beneficiary, the company explained. It can be considered as an electronic will, and some people might actually find use for it.

The service will officially launch in April this year. Users can first get a feel of it through trial accounts, or purchase accounts for $29.99/year, or $299.99/lifetime.
