Los Angeles wants healthier food too. But where to find it if in South Los Angeles, for example, the easiest way to eat is to buy fast food? Still, officials look concerned to all the unhealthy sources of calories and cholesterol. And they seem to have found a solution for the problem.

The City Council was obliged to vote on Tuesday that fast food restaurants harm the people by providing only unhealthy food that is strongly related with obesity and all the diseases linked to this over kilos issue. The new law was approved last week.

The council now expects restaurants to replace their old junk food with healthier products.

Yet, many people claimed the new law to be wrongful since the south Los Angeles is full with fast-food restaurants. It seems that this is what people ask for, and is not restaurants where you sit and order dinner. If people had asked for this, it’s certain that these would have been there by now.

Other states in the U.S. have banned unhealthy food. California was the first state that last Friday banned Trans Fats. They expect this to lower cholesterol levels. Arcata, for example, allows only nine fast-food restaurants inside the territory, but there are other states that don’t allow fast-foods at all, like Port Jefferson in New York.

Trying to obey the new laws, McDonald’s and Burger King, the most famous fast-food restaurants have inserted salads and low-fat dressings, as well as milk and apple pieces in their menus.

According to some researches, obesity has reached concerning levels in the U.S. and especially in L.A. 30% of the Los Angeles south residents are obese and only 19.1% in the other areas reach the obesity level.
