Capcom recently announced that a PC demo of the critically acclaimed third person shooter Lost Planet: Extreme Condition will be released simultaneously worldwide on May 15. Lost Planet is already a Platinum title for the Xbox 360, with more than 1 million copies sold worldwide, the PC version is expected to surpass that performance, considering the number of PCs out there compared to Xbox 360 consoles and the enhancements Capcom is promising for the most popular gaming platform (Windows). Lost Planet for PC is rated T for Teen by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) and will be available in June for a suggested retail price of $39.95. Capcom said that LP: EC will feature enhanced graphics and effects to optimize the realistic presentation and explosive action in the game, including better shadows and more detailed textures, as well as higher monitor resolutions. The game will also have a multiplayer component that will support up to 16 players simultaneously, who fight against each other on enormous maps, using Internet or LAN connections. Lost Planet: Extreme Condition for PC can be installed on Windows XP operating system (supporting DirectX 9) and Windows Vista (supporting both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10.) The DirectX 10 version will utilize the advanced features of Shader model 4.0 and Geometry Shader only available with DirectX 10. Lost Planet will also carry the Games for Windows branding, offering a better gaming experience with easy installation, reliability and safety features, and support for the Xbox 360 controller for Windows. According to an NVIDIA statement, the game will take full advantage of Vista’s Direct X 10 and will also feature the company’s Extreme High Definition (XHD) techinique, meaning that lucky owners of high-end PCs will be able to run Lost Planet even at resolutions reaching 2560x1600. According to producer Jun Takeuchi, the latest NVIDIA GPUs (8800 GTX and Ultra) will be able to render amazing graphics and details, not seen in the Xbox 360 version.
