Madonna’s brother, Christopher Ciccone, is writing
a memoir about his sister. He has signed a deal with publishers Simon and
Scuster and will be working with Wendy Leigh, who wrote biographies of Liza
Minnelli, Grace Kelly and a provocative book about Arnold Schwarzenegger.
“Living with My Sister Madonna” will tell
the story of a long term relationship between brother and sister and will have
an initial print run of 350,000 copies.
But the central character of the book will
not be involved in the project.
“Madonna has not cooperated with any
biography about herself,” her spokesperson Liz Rosenberg, confirmed the
rumours.
“Ciccone’s extraordinary memoir is based on
his life and 47 years of growing up with and working with his sister — the most
famous woman in the world,” the publisher said Wednesday in a statement.
The memoir is to be released in mid-July by
an imprint of Simon & Schuster, the publisher told the Associated Press.
Ciccone, 47, has worked with his sister
before. In 1991, he played an important role in her documentary “Madonna: Truth
or Dare,” for which he served as artistic director. He designed and directed
her “Girlie Show” tour in 1993.
On the other hand, E! Online reports that
the singer may be so upset by the tell-all that she’s considering meeting with
lawyers in London to talk about her possible legal actions to stop publication.
Madonna recently wrote and produced a
documentary about orphans in Malawi,
entitled “I Am Because We Are.”
