Michael Ambrose was arrested Thursday night after a great
number of explosive devices was found in his house. The 41-year-old man, who
lives on 188 East Street in East Bridgewater, was charged with multiple counts
of possession of explosive and is due to be arraigned on Friday in Brockton District Court. The neighbors
were shocked because, their neighborhood used to be a peaceful and a quiet one.
East Bridgewater police
Chief, John Cowan said that he didn’t know how strong the explosive devices
were, as they didn’t now what they contained. He also said that they have found
out about the explosive devices after a man who knew Ambrose had reported them
to the police. “It was a gentlemen that knew him and had seen (the devices) at
his house,” Cowan said. Authorities obtained a warrant and began to search the
house. The devices were found in Ambrose’s garage and were assumed to be in
other parts of the house also.
Boston.com reports that police arrived at the house at about
6 p.m. and continued their search until late at night. Cowan said that besides
the police, the fire department, the bomb squad and the state fire marshal were
at the scene. Three houses were evacuated and a perimeter of 250 feet was set
up by the authorities on each side of Ambrose’s house.
The neighbors were scared and shocked by this situation. Michael’s
neighbor from across the street, 41-year-old Julie Aldrich said, “It’s scary. I
don’t know what to think.” When asked what he knew about Ambrose,
his 52-year-old neighbor, Arthur Illsley said: "I know he keeps a nice
yard.”
