Mardi Gras Shooting
Seven people, including a baby, have been hurt after a shooting incident occured at the New Orleans Mardi Gras in the United States.
Police lining the parade route on historic St Charles Avenue heard the shots coming from the crowd at about 13:40 local time. The shootings happened just minutes after the final major parade of the celebration had concluded. Police arrested two suspects soon after.

The people who were injured in the shooting were three men aged 50, 33 and 20, two young women aged 20 and 17 and a 15-year-old boy; as if it were not already seriously enough, a 20-month-old infant shared the same fate, as it was reported. According to a police spokesman, Bob Young, the child was grazed along the back but was not seriously hurt.

Two of the men who were assaulted were shot in the stomach and were immediately transported to the hopspital, while the others are said to be in stable conditions with injuries not thought to be life-threatening. Luckily, Doctor Jim Parry, a 41-year-old surgeon, was nearby when everything happened and attended one man who had been shot in the abdomen, as the Associated Press reported.
The two men arrested by police were reported to be aged 18 and 20. Three weapons were recovered at the time of the arrest and so far no motive for the shootings has been determined, police said.
