“Brokeback
Mountain” star Heath
Ledger’s will had an essential omission, his daughter, Matilda and his former
girlfriend, Michelle Williams. However, his family announced that they would
make amends for the omission in the will and would not forget about his
offspring.
“Matilda is our absolute priority and Michelle is an
integral part of our family,” said Kim Ledger, Heath’s father in a statement
issued on Saturday. “They will be taken care of and that's how Heath would want
it to be.”
As the “New York Daily News” reported, the actor’s will was
conceived in April 2003, before Heath Ledger met Michelle Williams, and of
course, before having Matilda, who is aged two. Filed in his native Australia,
his will stated that Heath Ledger was leaving all he had to his mother, father
and sister, Kate.
His fortune doesn’t rise to more than $145,000, as documents
filed in Manhattan Surrogate’s Court show. At the time death on January 22,
Heath Ledger had around $100,000 in bank accounts, a Toyota Prius worth $25,000
and $20,000 in fixtures and furniture.
Heath Ledger, 28 and Michelle Williams met on the set of the
2005’s hit movie “Brokeback
Mountain,” in which they
starred as husband and wife. Media reported their breakup in September 2007,
but Ledger and Williams remained linked by their daughter, Matilda.
Ledger passed away on January 22 this year and his death was
ruled to have been caused by an overdose of prescription pills.
