Microsoft Delays Launch of New Xbox 360
Microsoft said last summer that it would soon unveil a new piece of its larger Xbox 360 Live known as “Primetime”. Basically, it would be an ongoing series of game shows that players could participate in with friends using the new Xbox Live Experience. Despite this information, Microsoft has decided to put off the launch of the Primetime element of XBE until spring, citing technical reasons. The release for Xbox Live Service is scheduled on November the 19th, delaying the one of the Xbox Live Primetime in order to ensure a smooth launch for the first one.

The new Xbox Live Experience has a series of noteworthy features, including a new avatars system, party channels, online game playing parties and more. It has a easy-to-navigate interface, access to a vast catalog of arcade games and the addition of 12,000 movies and TV episodes through Netflix, creating a full entertainment library. It has been announced that Primetime will most probably appear in the spring of 2009. The Xbox Live Primetime is supposed to be Microsoft’s attempt to take a bigger piece of the gaming pie, but also to step in a role usually held aside for television.

"With the New Xbox Experience we will have the flexibility to roll out features and updates dynamically, unlike in the past where we were on a more biannual schedule. So, there are a lot more exciting features, including Primetime, that will be coming soon," Microsoft told the press. While the holiday season was the ideal target for launch, children that hopped to receive the gift of a new Xbox 360 will just have to wait till its appearance.
