Microsoft Lays Out Developer Plan for Windows Marketplace for Mobile
Microsoft has revealed its new strategy for developers who want to be a part of the Windows Marketplace for Mobile. According to the company, developers who will choose to sell their applications through the Windows Marketplace will gain 70 percent of the sales revenue.

Furthermore, Microsoft promised transparency throughout the certification process, as well as guidance and support from the stage development to the final sale to the consumer. Developers will also be able to set the prices for the applications they sell, or choose to distribute them for free.

“Microsoft’s decades-long relationship with developers has led to some of the most exciting innovations the industry has seen,” said Andy Lees, senior vice president of Mobile Communications Business at Microsoft. “With the new Windows Marketplace for Mobile and our great development tools, Windows phones represent and incredible opportunity for developers everywhere,” he added.

Developers will be able to submit up to 5 applications to the Windows Marketplace for Mobile, under the $99 introductory annual registration fee. Each additional submission will cost the developers another $99. However, the registration will be free for student developers who enroll in the Microsoft DreamSpark program.

Microsoft is confident that the reach of its Windows Marketplace for mobile in 29 countries all over the world will encourage developers to create an even more solid base for applications. Developers will be able to start submitting their applications as soon as this summer, the company also added.
