Production has kicked off on the first fictional feature film based on the Disney Channel original series “Hannah Montana” starring Miley Cyrus, the Walt Disney Co. announced Thursday.

The movie directed by Peter Chelson, which is scheduled for a spring 2009 release, also features “Hannah Montana” regulars Emily Osment, Jason Earles, Mitchel Musso, Moises Arias and Billy Ray Cyrus. Others joining the usual team will be Melora Hardin, Margo Martindale, Barry Bostwick, Peter Gunn, Lucas Till and Vanessa Williams.

Meanwhile, the teen superstar is to launch the first full-length album under her own name, “Breakout,” July 22 via Hollywood Records. On her upcoming album, she is just Miley Cyrus. Her previous two albums were released under the name which made her famous, Hannah Montana.

This year’s 3-D release “Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Concert Tour” took in $65,3 million at the box office. The first single, “7 Things,” was one of the most added at U.S. top 40 radio outlets last week. “7 Things” was produced by John Fields and written by Cyrus with Antonina Armato and Tim James.

Cyrus scored her first top 10 Hot 100 hit with “See You Again,” and she presently has two different albums in the top half of The Billboard 200: “Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert” at No. 33 and “Hannah Montana 2 (Soundtrack)/Meet Miley Cyrus” at No. 65, Billboard.com noted.

“And when you mean it, I'll believe it / If you text it, I'll delete it,” Cyrus sings. She refers to her recent episode related to her Vanity Fair photo session.
