The 15-year-old actress Miley Cyrus, who
rose to fame as the star of the Disney’s Hannah Montana, will host this summer’s
“Teen Choice 2008.” Despite the scandal around her Vanity Fair photo session, the
15-year-old star was also nominated for four awards across the TV and music
sections, including Choice TV Actress: Comedy and Choice Female Artist.
The 10th annual awards special is due to
take place on August 14 and will be broadcast on US TV network FOX.
R’n’B star Chris Brown leads the list of
nominations with nine categories, including Choice Male Artist, Choice R’n’B
Artist and Choice Red Carpet Fashion Icon Male.
Rihanna will compete in Choice Female
Hottie, Choice Single for “Don’t Stop the Music” and Choice Female Artist.
Justin Timberlake, who holds the record of
21 Teen Choice Awards, is nominated in three categories.
This year’s nominees also include Gossip
Girl, Kayne West, Hayden Panettiere. The CW hit show Gossip Girl’s nominations
include: Best Drama, Best Actor and Best Actress.
Teenagers aged between 13 and 19 can select
their favourite stars from an online vote.
The TV series categories include genres
like “Celebrity Reality,” “Looking for Love,” and “Game Show,” while the movie
categories cover everything from drama to “Romantic Comedy.” Other categories
are sports, fashion, comedy and music.
