Apple launched on Tuesday lighter aluminum MacBooks with
faster graphics and better display. The aluminum casing was introduced for the
first time in the cheapest MacBook line. The most important part of the new
MacBooks is the non-crippled video system. The laptop will perform better
graphically in leaps and bounds.
Also, Apple has changed motherboard designs
with the new notebooks, and instead of using an Intel-source motherboard, it’s
using an Nvidia 9400M graphics instead. The Nvidia part is five times faster
than the Intel chipset, making a user capable of playing numerous games. The
9400M is up-to-date with lighting and shading capabilities that are needed to
run newer games. Another advantage is the one that the notebook will be able to
execute Open Computing Language (OpenCL) code in Snow Leopard, the next major
update to OS X.
Steve Jobs’s company decided to break a psychological barrier
by lowering the price of the entry-level below $1,000. Apple’s 13-inch aluminum
MacBooks sells for $1,299 and the 15-inch MacBooks for $1,599, but the 13-inch
white plastic MacBook is out for only $999. The process in which the aluminum
MacBooks are made starts with one piece of metal and carves out the product.
Therefore, the notebooks are slightly thinner and lighter than ever before.
Aside the fact that they are made out of one piece of
aluminum, the MacBooks have GPU silicon, a LED-lit glass display and meet EPA’s
highest standards for green manufacturing. Furthermore, Apple claims that the
battery life is rising from four hours to five. Even so, Apple maintains its
third position in the U.S. PC market behind Dell and HP.
