According to police reports, Lt. Michael Pigott from New York police turned 46 on Thursday. Some get depressed when seeing their years passing by, but some are happy to celebrate their birthdays. That was not Pigott’s case. The Lt. sneaked out of his house and went to his former command in Brooklyn. There, he shot himself in his head and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The police Lt. was working inside the police department since he was 25 and he seemed really depressed and concerned since September 24 when he ordered to Taser a psychiatric patient and this man died. Iman Morales, 35, was killed after he had fallen 10-foot from his Bedford-Stuyvesant building. It seems that Pigott was really worried about losing his job and being indicted. Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said that "the lieutenant was deeply distraught and extremely remorseful over the death of Iman Morales in Brooklyn last week. Sadly, his death just compounds the tragedy of the loss of Mr. Morales." Pigott took a 9-millimeter Glock on Thursday at about 6 a.m. and killed himself while the photo of his family was nearby. He also left a suicide note explaining that he hadn’t wanted his family to see him under arrest and that he didn’t want nobody to blame Officer Nicholas Marchesano, who fired the Taser at Morales on his order. Pigott had said, while still alive, that he felt “truly sorry for what happened to Mr. Morales.” He added that he felt “terrible about what happened to the man." After that, he didn’t want to discuss about it anymore, saying that his career would never be the same knowing what he had done.
