Another week, another elimination took place on ABC’s “Dancing
With the Stars” on Tuesday night. The 62-year-old Priscilla Presley was the one
to say “Good-Bye!” to the show this week along with her partner Louis Van Amstel.
Apparently, her sexy dance including the splits mid-routine was not enough for
the “Dancing With the Stars” viewers, who decided that they have to leave the
contest.
But the actress showed no regret. She even told host Tom Bergeron
that she had a wonderful time during the show and that she was thrilled of
having participated. “I did things I didn’t think I could do,” Presley
said according to Access Hollywood. They must have expected this elimination
considering the fact that Presley and Van Amstel were in the bottom two
last week.
On the other hand, there are figure-skating champion Kristi
Yamaguchi, Miami Dolphin Jason Taylor and singing star Mario who were in
top three. The young R&B singer impressed everyone, including the judges,
with his Latin moves while performing his samba along with dancing partner
Karina Smirnoff. Judge Len Goodman even praised the couple by saying “I’ve
gotta tell you,” Len said Monday, “best dance [of yours] so far!”
Some may say that Mario’s dancing skills are not surprising
considering the fact that he is an entertainer and by being an R&B singer, rhythm
is compulsory. However, the young singer, who has recently released his new
album “Go,” said that being an R&B singer has nothing to do with “Dancing
With the Stars.” It takes more hard work than TV viewers may think.
“It’s totally different,” he said. “I’ve never had any dance
experience. That’s something I’ve acquired from being an entertainer. I didn’t
have any expectations, but I knew that I had to work hard so that to make sure
I didn’t I want to let my family and friends down, and let my fans down, and
ultimately let myself down. I went into it with an open mind, hoping that me
and my partner had a good chemistry – which we do.”
Taking into consideration his evolution, would anyone
believe that Mario thought of passing on the opportunity to star in the show?
Well, he actually did. At first, he wanted to refuse the proposal of being part
of “Dancing With the Stars” due to his age. “I thought, ‘Nobody my age does
this show. My demographics don’t really watch the show.’ But at the same time I
thought it would be a great opportunity for my fans to see another side of me,
and a great platform for me to show the world who I am,” he said.
