“Race to Witch Mountain” Is Expected to Dethrone “Watchmen”
Will “Watchmen’s” reign last for only one week?

The option appears to be a very strong possibility taking into account the fact that the film grossed a below par $55.2 million in ticket sales last weekend. In addition, Warner Bros.’ superhero production might face tough competition from three wide debuts, which include Disney’s family adventure “Race to Witch Mountain,” Universal’s horror flick “The Last House on the Left,” as well as Fox Atomic’s R-rated comedy “Miss March.”

“Race to Witch Mountain” appears to be the most significant competitor, as some film industry analysts think it will outshine “Watchmen,” in spite of the fact that the comic book adaptation is expected to claim $20 million or more during the upcoming weekend.

Almost four decades after the release of Disney’s successful sci-fi thriller “Escape to Witch Mountain” (1975), the studio’s only option to revive the movie seemed to reside in better special effects. Said and done. However, “Race to Witch Mountain” portrays more artificial dialogues and acting.

Loosely based on Alexander Key’s 1968 novel, the production stars Dwayne Johnson as Jack Bruno, a Las Vegas cab driver who encounters an odd pair of twins: Sara (AnnaSophia Robb) and Seth, played by Alexander Ludwig. Mechanically demanding his “transportation services,” they guide him to the Nevada desert, where they discover a feeble cabin that is in fact the doorway to a dissident territory packed with astounding undergrowth and emergent globs of substance.
