The Bluetooth specialist Alpin
has announced this week the release of a new headset, Jawbone 2, a
revolutionary model from every point of view. This new powerful product on the
market, which is believed to reach 120 million units worldwide by 2009,
contains a few advantages over its opponents.
The special headset is two times
smaller than its predecessor, it weighs 10 g and is available in three
different colors: matte black, silver or rose gold. The special design brings
it close enough to an ear fashion accessory and made it be named the “Wearable
Gadget of the Year” in 2007.
The technical features are not to
be put under question, since this small-sized device has earned in 2007 an
International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award for the technology
it carried.
The specialty of this gadget is
the 'Noise Shield' adaptive signal processing technology that Aliph developed
for DARPA (Defense
Advanced Research Projects Agency). At that moment, the technology was created
for processing incoming and outgoing audio to reduce background noise in
military environments. But now, it was adapted to considerably reduce the noise
while talking on the cell phone. The device worn at the ear touches the user’s
face, using a small sensor to detect vibrations made during speech in order to
separate a caller’s voice from noise in their surroundings.
Other functions of this gadget
include: compatibility with all Bluetooth-enable phones, four hours of talk
time and eight of standby, usage range of 33 feet, USB charge connectivity.
Apparently, it is probably worth its price of $130.
