After recently divorcing from hip-hop mogul, Russell
Simmons, Kimora Lee won sole custody of her two daughters, Ming, aged 8 and
Aoki, aged 5.
The papers were filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on
Tuesday and apart from granting Kimora Lee exclusive custody of the two girls,
Def Jam Recordings co-founder Russell Simmons was allowed one week of
visitation out of every eight weeks and additional time for summer vacations,
according to People magazine.
In addition to this, each child will receive $20,000 per
month from their father until they reach the age of 19 ˝ or until they get
married, financially independent, join the armed forces or stop living with
their mother.
That totals $480,000 per year, in spite of the fact that the kids
already live in an approximately $24 million estate in New Jersey. Kimora Lee is an ex-model and
actual CEO of the Baby Phat fashion house.
The couple got married in 1998 and split up in 2006. When
she filed for divorce in March, after almost 9 years of marriage, Kimora Lee
invoked irreconcilable differences.
She also admitted to being involved in a
relationship with actor Djimon Hounsou, to whom she confessed she is “kind of
engaged”.
