Russia says regular troops sent to South Ossetia
In a further escalation of the conflict Georgia's breakaway region South Ossetia, Russia announced Friday that it has sent regular forces into the conflict.

A high-ranking Defence Ministry official announced the move to the RIA Nowosti agency, in development coming soon on the heels of President Dmitry Medvedev's statement that Russia would take action to protect its citizens under siege by Georgian troops in South Ossetia.
