Stephen Glover, also known as Steve-O, who is currently
hospitalized at Los Angeles’ Cedar-Sinai Medical
Center, opened up about
his drug and alcohol problems and also about his mother’s alcoholism, on his
MySpace blog. The “Jackass” star revealed in his new post that his
parents used to give him alcohol as a child.
Steve-O recalls: “Mom was very
alcoholic, and I think that is a gross understatement. I’d love to say that I
first took to alcohol out of affection for my mother, but I think the truth is
that I was always powerless over it.”
Moreover, the star reveals that while being with his family on the airplane, his parents used to feed him with alcohol. “Mom and Dad would
find themselves in the embarrassing position of being caught by other
passengers with a crying baby,” he said. In addition, Steve-O states: “I know
that I was always powerless over alcoholism because it had such a grip on Mom’s
adulthood and my childhood, and I never chose to fight it.”
Still, the most painful memory for him comes back from 1983
when he was eight or nine years old and his mother lied to her family saying
that she suffered from having lymph node cancer “so that she would have an
explanation for staying in bed drunk at all hours.”
This, however, did not stop him from loving her and forgave
her for lying to them. The 33-year-old star explains: “At this point in my life
I find myself hoping that I will be able to forgive myself for similarly
selfish acts that my own addiction led me to commit.” Furthermore, Steve-O
regrets having to admit all these about his other saying: “I can’t believe I
called out my own dead Mom for what’s surely the worse lie she ever told. I
also can't believe I ever picked up my first drink on my own after the way
alcohol ruined her life."
On his post, the “Jackass” star also revealed the fact that
he started consuming drugs while being a teenager. He smoke marijuana, took
LSD, consumed large quantities of nitrous oxide, amphetamines, ketamine and
cocaine. E! News reports that his arraignment on the felony cocaine-possession
charge has been set for Mar. 26.
