Strong quake shakes southern Iran

A strong earthquake on Wednesday jolted the southern Iranian province of Hormuzgan, the Khabar news network reported.
The quake, with a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter scale, shook mainly the provincial port of Bandar Abbas, causing panic among residents.
It was not immediately clear whether there were casualties or damage.
