Stuntman Steve-O Pleads Guilty to Cocaine Charge

The co-star of MTV’s “Jackass” pleaded guilty Tuesday to cocaine possession. Hip-hop artist Steve-O, whose real name is Stephen Glover, will avoid a jail sentence as long as he completes a two-year drug rehab program, his attorney Barry Gerald Sands said.

“If he’s clean and doesn’t mess up during 18 month, the case is completely dismissed,” Deputy District Attorney Brad Harmon was quoted as saying by the Daily News.

Steve-O’s attorney said his client is doing great and has been sober for 85 days. “He is a model individual. He has changed completely. He is a sober man,” he added, according to the same source.

Daredevil performer was arrested for investigation of vandalism and drug possession at his Hollywood home March 3 following a quarrel with a neighbour over a fence. Steve-O was later hospitalized for psychiatric treatment at LA’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He originally pleaded not guilty.

He was arrested several times on charges ranging from obscenity and assault charges on July 31, 2002, in Los Angeles to charges of disorderly conduct for urinating on potato chips in public during a Lollapalooza tour concert in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. Three years ago he was seen by reporters exiting a nightclub with a bag of marijuana.

All this time his popularity grew as he continued to write in his weblog SteveO.com. “I have to return in July to prove that I’m sober living and then I won’t have to go back for two years. Provided that I’ll have made it that long without getting into any trouble, the case will be dismissed,” Steve-O explained on his official website.
