Terrorists never cease to amaze when it comes to inventiveness and targets, the last attack leaving a sour taste behind. At least 25 people were killed when a suicide bomber detonated his lethal charge at a funeral in Fallujah, 69 kilometers west off Baghdad, national media informed.
Meanwhile, bomb attacks continue throughout Iraq, one person being killed in Baghdad when an explosive device went off in the early hours. The target was a gathering of workers in a square, eleven laborers also suffering injuries, the police reported. Such assemblies are often targeted by bomb attacks, five other attacks taking place in the same market in the past four years.
The US military released a statement in which it was revealed the result of a forensic analysis regarding the true identity of the body found Wednesday in the Babil province. The man wearing a US uniform was one of the three soldiers kidnapped on May 12 south of Baghdad.
Since 12 May massive search operations were launched in the southern region of Baghdad for the missing soldiers, presumably kidnapped by militants. The whereabouts and health condition of the other two soldiers remain unknown.
