T-Mobile Kicks Off 3-G Technology in New York
T-Mobile USA, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG of Germany, announced on Monday that it has launched its third- generation wireless network in the United States, beginning with New York City.

Even though rather few phones are able to use the 3-G technology, T-Mobile said that people in New York have are covered for the use of the last technology mobile devices through the network.

Conforming to previously announced plans, the country’s fourth largest cellular carrier will offer 3-G coverage to other major cities later this year.

In comparison to the other large rivals, T-Mobile pretty much was behind them in introducing the 3-G wireless broadband due to the fact that it did not had enough radio spectrum. However, in order to make up for that, the carrier emphasized mobile phones that complement slower cellular data services with Wi-Fi.

T-Mobile's 3G network is focused mainly on providing clearer calls more than music stores, video clips, and Web browsing, which is the difference between it and other 3-G providers.

Anyway, Web browsing and downloading content from the Internet would be much faster with 3G on four phone models that T-Mobile USA started selling a year ago, Nokia's 3555 and 6263 and Samsung's t819 and t639.

The network uses the UMTS and HSDPA systems for better call quality and fast data speeds, allowing download speeds around 600 kilobits per second.
