According to local sources, in the helicopter crash that happened last night at the Lake of the Ozarks, there were five people involved. Out of the four children and one adult, a nine-year-old boy, Zachary T. West, is still missing.

Once the helicopter touched the water at around 7:15 p.m., it began to sink quickly. The causes of the crash are still unknown and authorities are currently trying to figure everything out. According to the pilot, Keith Baker, 50, of St. Louis, the helicopter’s tail rotor failed, the aircraft started to spin and it eventually went into the lake, 200 feet away from shore.

The fire departments of Lake Ozark and Mid-County immediatly reached the scene and found the four passengers perfectly alright. In order to increase the chances of finding the missing boy, divers from several agencies were called to cover as much of the lake as possible. The Water Patrol will also use a sonar device to try to locate the aircraft. For the time being, boaters were asked to keep away from the crash area.

An inspector from the Federal Aviation Administration will arrive on Tuesday to take a look at the helicopter’s remains and try to establish the cause of the incident.
