The Seventh Tropical Storm Forms in Central Caribbean
The Atlantic hurricane season has come with its seventh tropical storm this year in central Caribbean. The storm is heading for the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Forecasters announced that the center of the storm was located at 260 miles southeast of Port-au-Prince in Haiti, at 11 a.m. on Monday.

The National Hurricane Center said that the depression was moving to the northwest with sustained winds of 35 mph, adding that a gradual decrease might be possible over the next two days. The center of the tropical storm will be near Haiti on Tuesday.

The southern and western parts of the Dominican Republic and Haiti have put storm warnings all over the area. Within 36 hours tropical storm conditions are possible in these areas.

The low pressure area in the Caribbean is now well organized and has become a tropical depression. At 11 a.m., the center of the tropical depression was located 15.5 latitude north and 70.1 longitude east, at 415 km southeast of Port-au-Prince.

The depression could become a tropical storm today as its maximum sustained winds reach 35 mph and its estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb, as the National Hurricane Center has issued today.

Rainfall accumulation is expected to reach 5 to 7 inches over Hispaniola with isolated maximum 15 to 25 inches in some areas. Floods and mud slides could bring evacuation orders for the residents in the area.
