Things seem to have started to
change for Apple Inc.’s iPhone, as the company’s CEO Steve Jobs has announced
today that third-party applications will soon be coming for the controversial mobile
phone This announcement comes in a period of time when the iPhone has
transformed from the once popular gadget into a controversial device, which has
been recently frozen by its first software update.
Steve Jobs has announced the
amazing news today through a new open letter posted on the Hot News section of
the company’s web site. The CEO’s letter has confirmed this way the reports
that the SDK (software development kit) for its iPhone will be released to the
developers the year to come. The software development kit will come in
February, rather than in January – as has been previously reported.
Although till now the iPhone has
kept away from becoming an open platform, Steve Jobs has said today that his
company is “excited about creating a vibrant third party developer community
around the iPhone and enabling hundreds of new applications for our users”.
The recent amazing move makes
sense in fact, as Apple Inc. would have never been able to win the hacking war.
The iPhones’ users have also always wanted third-party applications for their
mobile phones, as well as for their iPod Touches, which will as well be opened
up by the software development kit, as Steve Jobs has confirmed. This move is
likely to rehabilitate Apple Inc. and the iPhone in front of the maddened
users.
