The British police announced on Thursday that three men were charged because they had been plotting against the publisher of a novel which is related with the Prophet Muhammad. Salesman Abrar Mizra, 22, cab driver Abbas Taj, 30 and Ali Beheshti, 40, the suspects, were arrested on Saturday near the house of Martin Rynja, the publisher of “The Jewel of Medina,” in London. After a fire started inside the publisher’s building, the police arrested the three men but refused to give any further details about the case. Mizra, Taj and Beheshti were charged with plotting to endanger life and damage property and the last one was also charged with weapon possession. They were scheduled to appear in court on Friday. “The Jewel of Medina” is a book wrote by Sherry Jones and is built on historical fiction about Aisha, a woman who was only 9 years old when she had married Prophet Muhammad. Later, Aisha became a political and military leader. Gibson Square, Rynja’s publisher house, took the manuscript and decided to publish it after Random House had dropped it because the controversy book might have turned on people’s violence. “Jewel of Medina” is set to be published in more than 12 countries and Rynja had said that Gibson Square would publish it in October. Yet, it’s still uncertain if these plans will be accomplished. Beaufort Books, the publisher from the United States reported that they will release the book on Monday and not on October 15, like they had announced previously. Eric Kampmann, president of Beaufort Books, said that "by speeding up the publication, we wanted to reduce or eliminate the chance of violence. What had occurred in London, we didn't want to have occurred here. We wanted people to have a chance to read the book.”
