Three people died in a car crash last night in Los Angeles. Among the dead there were a pregnant woman and a little girl of only 12 years. Two other people were seriously injured as their car ran into a tree. Authorities believe that the car was participating in a possible drag race in northeast Los Angeles, in Eagle Rock community.
The crash took place on Colorado Boulevard, at the intersection with Highland View Avenue. In spite of the fact that that area of Colorado is wide and spreads to six lanes that resembles a freeway, the car crashed the tree. The 134 highway is built in the north of the boulevard, but Colorado still carries a heavy traffic of the east-west area.
Sources say that two years ago, near the last night accident’s scene, authorities installed bollards outside the door of Swork Coffee as to prevent cars from running into the store.
It seems that last night’s accident was caused by a car race. Authorities believe that there were three cars implied in the race. The police found severed body parts out in the street when they arrived at the scene, Lt. John Romero said.
The identities of the victims weren’t released yet. The accident took place at about 11:00 p.m. and three blocks of the street were closed for the traffic hours later.
The black Nissan Maxima isn’t yet known if it had participated in the race or not. Still, the driver of one of the three cars implied in the street race, was arrested at the scene.
