On Wednesday, tropical storm Gustav headed toward Cuba after it had killed 11 people and caused a lot of floods and damages in the Caribbean. Louisiana and the Gulf Coast are also threatened by the tropical storm which could become a Category 3 hurricane.
A meteorologist at the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Rebecca Waddington, reported for the Associated Press: "We know it's going to head into the Gulf. After that, we're not sure where it's heading. At that point, we're expecting it to be a Category 3 hurricane."
Gustav is still far away from the place where it will hit the next time, but forecasters predicted that the target could be somewhere between South Texas and Florida.
Royal Dutch Shell PLC together with other oil companies had to evacuate all their employees as the tropical storm threatened the gulf oil production. Because of this fact, the oil and gas price could rise 10 cents by this weekend, from $119 on Wednesday.
Evacuations are possible for residents in New Orleans. People living in the area were given emergency information numbers, to use in case of hurricane and need of evacuation. Residents along the Gulf Coast were asked to be prepared.
In Haiti, Gustav remained a tropical storm and it moved west-northwest at 5 mph, but it could strengthen as a hurricane when is passes to Cuba and Jamaica. Its top sustained winds reach up to 60mph.
