Ryanair airline said in a report on Tuesday that one of its flights, FR9336, from Britain to Spain had to land in France at Limoges airport after a loss of cabin pressure. 26 passengers had to be taken to a hospital. The airplane was coming from Bristol airport in southwest England and was heading for Barcelona.
There were 168 passengers on board of the plane on Monday’s flight. The airline said that all the passengers "experienced an inflight depressurisation incident which caused the oxygen masks on board to deploy."
For security reasons, the captain of the FR9336 decided to descend the plane to Limoges airport at 23:30 local French hour. The airplane landed very quickly from 8,000 metres, in only five minutes and 26 passengers had to be taken to hospital because they were complaining of earache.
Pen Hadow, a passenger, said that what happened was “traumatic for many involved.” He described the incident as "suddenly there was a roar of wind, a rush of cold air, the oxygen masks dropped, you didn't know what was going on."
Even if so many of the passengers were taken to the hospital, no earache problem was serious and they were released after they were checked by a doctor. Another Ryanair aircraft was brought to Limoges, to carry the other passengers. The plane took off at 3:30 a.m. with nearly 127 passengers who wished to continue their flight. The other passengers in France were expected to fly to Girona on Tuesday.
