US Military Camp Under Attack In Iraq
A US military base located in Taji came under heavy fire which destroyed one helicopter and damaged nine others, the media reported Thursday.

The attack occurred Sunday, but it was until today that the US military reported the event, as no casualties were signaled. The attackers are still unknown.

This is the first event of its kind since the invasion began four years ago, no helicopters being damaged until now by the insurgents, the US army informed.

Elsewhere, the city of Mosul continues to be under siege for the second consecutive day. Wednesday, security forces stormed several locations and arrested about 300 militants. The raid triggered a massive wave of violence throughout the city, as dozens of police officers were injured or killed by bomb explosions.

Casualties were also reported in the insurgents camp, fifteen gunmen being killed in the fire exchange with governmental and coalition troops.

Meanwhile, the authorities discovered 962 fake policemen, most of them being deployed in the Kirkuk region. Also, Iraqi and US forces arrested 16 suspects linked to the disappearance of the three US soldiers.

Related to the same incident, a militant group claimed it has the three soldiers, but the confirmation hasn’t been issued yet.
