The popular Ubuntu open-source community has launched on Thursday the 7.10 version of its famous Linux operating system. The new version features more user-friendly updates, although it is still not known how the new operating system will get along with non-technical consumers.

The “Gutsy Gibbon”, as Ubuntu 7.10 has been nicknamed, has upheld the regular six-month release cycle for the popular OS. However, Ubuntu 7.10 is different from all the other versions because it has been added new software that is designed to make it easier to use and this way to make it more appealing to all the computer users.

The Gutsy Gibbon will come also with the new GNOME 2.20 desktop environment, with Compiz Fusion 3D desktop effects software, with fast user switching features, a Tracker for desktop search, dynamic screen configuration and also with a new graphical display configuration tool and others. The users will be able to enjoy also an automatic printer installation software tool for with the new version of Ubuntu.

Among the other improvement with which Ubuntu 7.10 comes for charming the computer users one could include the Firefox plug-ins finder wizard, which allows them to search and install packaged plug-ins, as well as a restricted a restricted driver manager, which could fetch and install non-free firmware that is required for some chipsets.

For the laptop users, the new version of Ubuntu brings also less heat and less power consumption, so that the users could enjoy even more the time spent with their computer.
