Hollywood actor Verne Troyer, the man who played Mini Me in the “Austin
Powers” flicks is accusing TMZ of violating his rights by publishing and airing
on its Web site fragments of a sex tape showing Troyer and a 22-year-old
aspiring model engaged in a series of sex acts.
According to the lawsuit filed in US
District Court in downtown Los Angeles,
Troyer alleges TMZ and Kevin Blatt violated his rights to privacy and
publicity, infringed upon his copyright and trademark and misappropriated his
name and likeness.
The lawsuit seeks $20 million in damages,
unspecified attorneys’ fees and an injunction barring the defendants from
displaying the video.
Troyer claims the tape was stolen and ended
up in the possession of Kevin Blatt, who was also responsible for releasing a
sex tape of socialite Paris Hilton, entitled “One Night in Paris.” The actor claims that Blatt is
currently entertaining a $100, 000 distribution offer from SugarDVD, according
to E! News.
Stunt man Verne Troyer, notable by his
dwarfism, is best known for playing the character of Mini-Me in the Austin
Powers movies. Troyer also appeared in an Apple Computer commercial for its
12-inch and 17-inch Power-Books. He appeared as himself in commercials, for
GEICO and for World of Warcraft. Verne Troyer is also a cast member in the
motion picture comedy “The Love Guru.”
