Violence In The Gaza Strip Concerns Rice
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice expressed her concern about the recent outbreak of violence in the Gaza Strip in talks held with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert over the telephone.

Rice’s deliverance is part of a long series of criticism expressed by leaders around the globe towards the armed conflict erupted in the long-disputed territory. During the last days the Gaza Strip had no rest as rockets and bullets are flying everywhere.

Fatah and Hamas militants hunt each other on the streets of Gaza City, while the Israeli Air Force launched an air strike on the headquarters of the Hamas military wing in the town. The raid came in response to the numerous Qassam rockets fired by militants belonging to the same radical wing towards the southern region of Israel.

The entire region is on the brink of total chaos, as the blood feud between the two organizations, (Fatah and Hamas) and the tensions triggered by the Lebanon war report are increasing pressure on Ehud Olmert. Not few were the officials that asked for his resignation, due to the haste and wrong decisions taken.

Due to these conflicts and political fighting, Condoleezza Rice postponed her trip in the Gaza Strip and Israel, maybe as a sign of protest towards the animosity between neighbouring nations.

The United States and other world power tried to defuse the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but failed several times, the religious origin of the historical discord being to strong to be eliminated.

"We recognize the deep humiliation that can come as a result of living in a land where you can't move freely, where people can't realize dreams," US president Bush said during his meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

US and Britain have been one of the many countries deeply involved in the fight against terrorism worldwide.
