Another one gunning at Apple
Inc.! This time, surprisingly or not, it is the popular environmental
organization Greenpeace that is shooting towards Apple Inc.’s once famous
ultimate gadget, the iPhone. After Greenpeace’s hit report, it now seems that the
iPhone is not only a controversial phone because of all those technique issues
related to the network, third-party applications, locking and unlocking software
programs and so on; according to Greenpeace the iPhone is also somehow toxic!
The worldwide popular
environmental organization has said that they have discovered after the first
ever iPhone-dissection that the ultimate smart phone is in fact full of
hazardous chemicals. Greenpeace has disassembled the mobile phone and they have
said two types of hazardous substances have been discovered. Some of these
substances have been already “eliminated by other mobile phone makers”.
According to the environmental
group’s analysis, the iPhone contains toxic brominated compounds and hazardous
PVC. The presence of these two substances has been confirmed also by an independent
scientific laboratory that has tested 18 components of the iPhone. These toxic
substances’ influence could cause a wide range of important health problems to
the phone’s users.
Greenpeace has also compared
Apple’s smart phone the other manufacturers’ similar devices. The popular Nokia
phones are already PVC free, while Sony Ericsson and Motorola new phones are
also healthier than the iPhone.
As a conclusion of the report,
Greenpeace is already calling on Apple Inc. to initiate a global take-back
policy on its once called “ultimate gadget”.
